Not to split hairs or anything, but isn't a "blizzard" a "severe snowstorm with high winds and low visibility"? And is this true: "The difference between a blizzard and a snowstorm is the strength of the wind, not the amount of snow"? It just seems like folks in the South tend to blow winter weather conditions a little out of proportion.

Wind is above 20 mph and gusting higher visibility is less than a quarter mile. And the temperature is 22 degrees with wind chills in the single digits.

I understand that Winters are harsher up north, but I don't think that means that getting 10 inches of snow in 14 hours isn't a blizzard.

You say potato, I say potato? (I just grew up with the understanding that "blizzard" meant you couldn't see 2 feet in front of your face because the snow was blowing sideways, and you'd better hope the resulting snowdrifts didn't cover much of the front door!) A heavy snowstorm to a northerner is a blizzard to a southerner. It's all good. :)
